With the Scorched Detection System quests all complete, it’s now time to set out in search of the Brotherhood of Steel. Until now, this iconic faction hasn’t played a role in the Fallout 76 main storyline. However, that’s about to change in a big way. The Fallout 76 Defiance Has Fallen quest is the first of several to feature the Brotherhood of Steel.
How to Complete the Fallout 76 Defiance Has Fallen Main Quest
You should automatically start the Fallout 76 Defiance Has Fallen main quest upon completing Coming to Fruition. Your first objective, which occupies much of the quest, is to find Fort Defiance; the Brotherhood of Steel base of operations. Your first stop on this search will be Camp Venture, a Brotherhood outpost in the Mire. The simplest way to reach this site is to fast-travel back to Harpers Ferry, which you visited during Coming to Fruition. The camp lies due south of the town, close to the border with the Cranberry Bog.
When you reach Camp Venture head for the site’s Command Centre. You’ll need to use the terminal by the door to unlock it, and this means finding the password. Use the terminal once to pick up an optional objective marker to point you in the right direction. You’ll need to head for the Storage and Supplies building. Inside, make your way downstairs and pick the lock on a door in the basement. This will lead to another locked door which cannot be picked. A note can be found beside it which will give you another optional objective to find the key.
This key can be found in a building just south of the Command Centre. The quest objective will mark a locker with the key inside. Take it back to the basement door, unlock it, and retrieve the terminal password. You can now access the Command Centre. Inside, you’ll find a letter which gives you the location of Fort Defiance.
Fort Defiance
Fort Defiance is a bit of a trek from Camp Venture. It’s to the southwest, deep in the Cranberry Bog. At one stage, this was the base for the Brotherhood of Steel, but that appears to be all in the past. Your task now is to find out what happened. To do that, you need to restore power to the old asylum which Fort Defiance was established inside of. The power can be restored via a circuit breaker which is on the top floor of the large building. Of course, the building is filled with ghouls, Scorched, and other enemies, all a minimum of level 35. As such, be prepared for a fight.
Make your way up to the top floor, then through the building to skirt around the collapsed floors. Eventually you should arrive at the circuit breaker. With this done, descend back to the new objective marker. Eventually you’ll reach a hole in the floor; drop down to find a locked room and a note. Reading it will complete the quest. As a reward, you’ll earn rather a lot! You’ll receive a new photo frame and a random aid item, but also a BOS Soldier’s Uniform and BOS Underarmour Mod. Best of all, you’ll get a Gatling Gun and 5 mm ammo.
