Now that you’ve successfully raided Sam Blackwell’s bunker, you have everything you need to get into a much more important bunker; the Whitespring Bunker, secret HQ of the Enclave. This bunker is concealed beneath The Whitespring Resort, based on the real Greenbrier Resort and its own secret Cold War government bunker. The Fallout 76 One of Us main quest is the first to really introduce the Enclave faction, and it does so through one of the game’s most interesting NPCs.
How to Complete the Fallout 76 One of Us Main Quest
The Fallout 76 One of Us main quest begins automatically when you complete the Bunker Buster quest. Your first objective is to head to The Whitespring Bunker. The actual Whitespring Resort is south of Top of the World, in the Savage Divide. The bunker itself is slightly further south, and sealed with a vault door. However, as you approach, the door will be opened from the inside. Be careful not to shoot or otherwise damage any of the robots who can be found inside the bunker; they do not take kindly to aggressors and are extremely dangerous.
Head into the bunker and press a button to get your picture taken, then collect your Operative Underarmour from a nearby dispenser. Progress into “Orientation,” where you will meet MODUS, the one who let you into the bunker. MODUS requires you to take an intelligence exam on a nearby computer, although you can use a separate terminal to skip the test if you wish. Completing the test, and scoring highly, is recommended, as it will improve MODUS’ opinion of you (and the quality of reward you get).
The Intelligence Test Answers and Scoring
The first of the two questions which MODUS poses to you score points on personality. The point scorings are awarded thusly:
- Business Owner/Executive: +2
- Lawyer: +1
- Military/Law Enforcement: 0
- Doctor/Scientist: +2
- Agriculture/Food Service: 0
- Other: 0
And the second set:
- St. Thomas Aquinas: +1
- Adam Smith: +3
- John Stuart Mill: +2
- Karl Marx: 0
- Elvis: +1
The final three questions are instead fact-based and require specific correct answers, which are as follows.
- “Ulysses S. Grant was the 18th president of the United States.”
- “An oyster fork is the only one that goes on the right side of the plate.”
- “General Constantine Chase led the reclamation of Anchorage, Alaska.”
Completing the test will prompt MODUS to provide you with a reward item. The better you do, the better the item will be. The AI will also give you the System Access Tape, which is necessary for your next objective.
Hacking the SigInt System Terminal
MODUS wants you to put the System Access Tape into a terminal in Sugar Grove. This location lies northeast of the bunker, on the far side of the Savage Divide. When you arrive at the facility you won’t be able to access one of the entrance doors, but you can use a button to open the northern door. Head downstairs, through the enemy robots and super mutants, to find the SigInt System Terminal. When you do, insert the tape and walk through the options which appear on-screen. With that done, go upstairs to the Archival Dispenser. This will give you the lost data which MODUS needs. Head back to the Whitespring Bunker, and just through the entrance, turn left and pass through a laser grid. Make use of the elevator and then MODUS will give you an Uplink Module and Module Instructions. Now you need to install it.
Unless you already have the Radio Astronomy Research Centre as a fast-travel destination, return to Sugar Grove and head south; your final destination of this quest is fairly close to the Grove. Make your way inside and up to the rooftop, where you’ll find a Connection Platform. Install the Uplink Module, and the task is complete. You’ll receive a new objective marker nearby, to the east. Here you’ll find a very valuable box containing an Orbital Scan Beacon and an Orbital Strike Beacon. These are some of the best grenades in the entire game. With those retrieved, simply return to MODUS to complete the quest, starting Officer On Deck in the process.
Your rewards for completing One of Us are excellent. In addition to the Orbital Strike and Scan Beacons, you’ll receive the schematics to craft both, as well as random aid, ammo, a random plan, and a new photo frame. You’ll also receive the Bunker Buster, not to be confused with the quest of the same name, which is a unique modded Missile Launcher.
