A Major Borderlands 3 Update is Coming in Two Days’ Time

Today’s episode of the Borderlands Show offered Borderlands 3 fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for; details about what they can expect to see in early 2020. Until now, Gearbox has been relatively silent, moving from “mini-event” to mini-event. However, on the 13th of February, the studio will be releasing a major Borderlands 3 update alongside the new Broken Hearts Day event.

What’s Included in the Next Big Borderlands 3 Update

The 13th February Borderlands 3 update will be the first major update of 2020 for the game, and will include several things which fans have been calling for. One of these, for example, is a level cap increase; Gearbox will be raising the level cap from 50 to 53, giving players 3 extra skill points for their endgame builds. In fact, the studio also hinted that the level cap could raise further in the future; “We’ll have more information about future level cap increases later,” they wrote; “and intend to make any level cap increases free additions to the game.”

In addition, the February update will introduce the ability for players to disable Guardian Rank perks. This includes the ability to toggle the entire system on or off, as well as each individual perk. The studio also mentioned that they are planning to add new perks in the future, but probably not until the launch of the second story DLC. Guardian Rank isn’t the only thing that players will be getting more control over. The patch will also introduce the ability for players to toggle in-game events on and off. The game’s cutscenes will also become skippable.

The update will also be adding the True Takedown Mode, a setting which allows players to revert the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite to its original format. (The Takedown’s format was permanently changed following a recent event.) Of course, along with various bug-fixes, the update will include some stability and performance improvements.

Finally, players can look forward to another Borderlands 3 update in March which will include various other tweaks and changes which Gearbox didn’t have ready for the 13th of February. These include Mayhem 2.0 and improvements to Fight For Your Life, among other things.
