Bethesda has released a major new Fallout 76 update on all platforms; the first of two which were recently announced for December. The second will be coming next week on the 11th. This latest update brings Fallout 76 up to version 1.0.2.0 on all platforms, and compared to previous massive updates, is just 3 GB on consoles, and 36 MB on PC. Nonetheless, it brings some significant changes and fixes.
What’s Included in the December 4th Fallout 76 Update
The new Fallout 76 update brings some general performance and stability improvements, particularly to the game’s PC version. Additionally, it addresses one key fan concern; the size of the in-game Stash storage. Gamers have been calling for an increase to the Stash limit since the B.E.T.A., and Bethesda has finally delivered. The Stash limit has been increased by 50%, rising from 400 to 600. However, this is just a preliminary improvement; “We plan to increase the storage cap further in the future,” says Bethesda; “once we’ve verified this change does not impact the stability of the game.”
Some balancing changes have also been made, with a reduction in XP for killing higher-level creatures. A fix has also been made to instanced Boss loot, ensuring that players receive 2-4 items per boss defeated, and don’t receive any less. Automatic weapons have gotten a significant buff too; a 20% increase in damage to all weapons in the category! In PvP, changes have been made to the Cryolator. This weapon will now apply the Chilled, Frosted, or Frozen status depending on how many times a player is hit. The speed penalties caused by being hit have also been massively decreased, falling from hours to seconds.
Finally, the update brings dozens of bug fixes. Most notably is a fix to the now-infamous Power Armour bug which has been causing player characters to turn into distended abominations. The full patch notes can be read here.
