Last month, modder SKK50 released the Fallout 4-76 mod. This Fallout 76 parody mod turns the last Fallout title into a fan’s worst nightmares of what the upcoming title could be; randomly-falling nukes, randomly-spawning griefer enemies, and with almost every NPC removed. Now, SKK50 has released a major update called the “Open World Feral Edition.”
Fallout 4-76: The Fallout 76 Parody Mod
Once you download the mod, an activation file appears in your in-game inventory, entitled “Fallout 4-76 Enable”. Opening the file causes the mod to activate to the tune of Country Roads, before transforming Fallout 4 into a nightmarish and desolate landscape under near-constant nuclear bombardment. Players are able to adjust the spawning settings for a variety of new features, including the nukes and griefer enemies.

The Open World Feral Edition of the Fallout 76 parody mod makes one major new change. The mod now replaces all unnamed human NPC enemies, and named NPC characters, with feral ghouls. These characters were originally removed from the game anyway by the first version of the mod. The new edition does repopulate the world to some extent, albeit with mindless feral ghouls. Every settlement in the game world becomes a dangerous area, with ghouls ready to swarm out of the ruins and attack.
To counteract the fact that there are no quests or NPCs that you can talk to, the mod gives you automatic access to all settlement workbenches. In addition, any door that required an NPC to unlock now starts the game unlocked. While the new version of the mod does make it marginally more playable; the mod was certainly intended more as a joke than as a legitimate gaming experience. Fallout 76’s actual multiplayer mechanics are likely to be a far cry from this particular imagining; despite what some fans seem determined to believe. Nobody outside of Bethesda has yet seen detailed gameplay footage of the game’s multiplayer; however, the first instance is likely to be when the public beta launches in October.
