Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is due out on Friday of this week, the 25th of October, and ahead of that launch, Activision has both announced and released the Making of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare art book. This new book features concept art and visuals from the game’s design process. These range from initial character designs to visuals for all of the weapons and vehicles. Plus, anybody who buys the book also gets a bonus in-game skin.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Art Book
“Playing a Call of Duty game is about channelling the classic Call of Duty feel and being immersed in an epic battleground complete with high fidelity visuals,” explains Activision; “Now with the Making of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare art book, you can get a close-up and behind the scenes look at all of the art used in the game.”
The art book’s contents cover all of the key areas which Infinity Ward’s art department work on; characters, environments, vehicles, and of course, weapons. When it comes to characters, readers can expect to get some insight into the design process; whether it was realising the designs for Captain Price or new faces like Farah. The book also includes details about the motion capture process, with storyboards and more.
Of course, readers will also find plenty of artwork dedicated to the game’s settings and multiplayer maps. “If you are firing at an enemy around a tank, that tank is the work of a vehicle artist,” says Activision; “If you mantle over a windowsill to take a Headquarters objective, you’re interacting with environment art. Both pieces of art build upon the narrative of any Call of Duty multiplayer map and can impact gameplay, like providing cover or, in the case of vehicles, explosive firepower.”
The Making of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare art book is available to buy now. Anybody who picks it up will also get a small in-game bonus; access to the Operator skin for Krueger, one of the Allegiance Operators.
