The new Madden NFL 20 video game is still months away from a release date. The 2019 NFL season is also months away. However, that doesn’t mean the game stops for video game enthusiasts. Nor does it mean players will stop trying to campaign for what they want in the next Madden title. Case in point is Melvin Gordon of the Los Angeles Chargers, who wants to make sure EA’s Madden NFL 20 has his new celebration in the game.
Melvin Gordon tweets EA for Madden NFL 20
The NFL offseason is underway, with training camp a little bit of a ways away. Some NFL stars are also avid gamers, like Le’Veon Bell. Many of the NFL players pay attention to their ratings, or their in-game looks. They don’t shy away from letting EA know their thoughts. Melvin Gordon made his game suggestion known by tweeting EA Sports about his touchdown celebration. Gordon tweeted out that he wanted to give them a “heads up” over which touchdown dance to use.
Gordon refers to it as the “drum line dance” he did with Keenan Allen this past season. Since EA Sports is “elite on details” as Gordon mentioned, they’ve already managed to respond too. EA sent out a tweet on Monday (Apr. 15) indicating they were already on top of it. The tweet includes video footage of motion capture for that particular touchdown dance.
This past season, Gordon ranked No. 17 amongst all NFL running backs with 908 yards. He had 10 touchdowns, putting him in the top six players. So there’s certainly good reason to give the man his suggested celebration!
When Madden NFL 19 game launched, Melvin Gordon had an 89 OVR for his player ratings. Over the course of the season, he surged, going up by two points in Week 6. He’d hover at that 91 OVR up until just after the Divisional Round. Gordon ended as a 90 OVR in the game, though.
As far as when gamers will see Madden NFL 20 released, that’s still unknown. However, based on previous release dates, a strong bet could be placed on sometime in mid-to-late August 2019. That gives EA plenty of time to accommodate all those player requests for in-game celebrations.
