In just a couple of days’ time, on the 5th of January, Respawn will be launching the Apex Legends Fight Night Collection Event; their first in-game event of the new year. While the event features major new additions like a new game mode and a Pathfinder Town Takeover, it will also include a meta update designed to change a few key elements.
Apex Legends Meta Updates in This Week’s Event
“We’re giving Season 7 some extra time to shake out,” explains Respawn, about the upcoming meta update; “Horizon released strong, but not overpowered. The below buffs are aimed at small power increases.”
The buffs mentioned will apply to two of the game’s Legends; Caustic and Rampart. The latter will be getting a 33% decrease to the cooldown of Amped Cover, dropping from 30 seconds to 20 seconds. Meanwhile, Caustic’s Nox Gas Trap’s cooldown will also drop from 25 to 20 seconds. According to Respawn, the developers are happy with Caustic’s Season 7 buff, but feel that; “he’s not quite where we want him to be,” quite yet.
When it comes to weapons, three firearms will also see some changes in the Apex Legends Fight Night event update. Firstly, in a minor nerf, the Hemlok will see its damage drop from 22 to 20. Next, the Mastiff’s 3rd and 4th pellets will spread out further, serving to reduce the maximum range of a 4-pellet hit. According to Respawn, this was +/- 7.5 degrees, but will be +/- 10 degrees after the meta update. Finally, the Prowler’s reserve bullets will be increased from 175 to 210 in the update’s only weapon buff.
Aside from the meta shifts, the update will also include a few quality-of-life changes for Apex. Players will be able to use Ultimate Accelerants without opening their inventory, for example, by pressing the button to activate their ultimate; this will cause you to automatically retrieve and use an accelerant. A “Mark All As Seen,” button has been added to the game, and while in a lobby, if a player leaves, then all party members will be marked ‘not ready’; this should prevent players from accidentally launching into a game if somebody briefly leaves.
