Metal Gear Survive will be getting a limited time collaboration event very soon. The limited time event will be centered around the 2008 PS3 title Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The event will begin next week on July 31st and run through August 14th. During that time only, players will have the chance to earn exclusive gear inspired by the fourth main entry in the Metal Gear Solid series.
The Metal Gear Survive event called The Encounter 2014 will be focused on cooperative play. Players who participate in the Metal Gear Solid 4-inspired event will be given the opportunity to collect Battle Points that can be used for receiving exclusive rewards. The possible rewards include accessories, gestures, and nameplates with a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots theme.
You can find the full list of items that you can receive during the limited time Metal Gear Survive event below:
- Accessory: Haven Trooper
- Accessory: Raiden
- Gesture: Eye Have You
- Gesture: Guns of the Patriots
- Nameplate: Metal Gear Rex [2014]
- Nameplate: Otselotovaya Khvatka
- Nameplate: Outer Haven
The Encounter 2014 is the first major cooperative event for Metal Gear Survive since the game launched earlier this year in February on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It is interesting to see that the development team is willing to take a look at past entries in the Metal Gear Solid franchise and use them for new content in this online survival game.
For those who are unaware, Metal Gear Survive is an online-focused survival game where players build up a base to survive against a mysterious zombie horde. This can all be done cooperatively with up to three other players online. The game has been controversial since its announcement as the first major Metal Gear title since Hideo Kojima left the publisher Konami.
However, Metal Gear Survive isn’t the only Metal Gear game to get new content recently. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was recently updated to allow for a new playable character. We’ve got the full lowdown on that here.
