Metro Exodus Gameplay Trailer Showcases the Ashot

Previous trailers released for Metro Exodus have looked at the game’s handguns and rifles; weapons like the classic Bastard Gun or the Kalash. 4A Games’ latest trailer turns players’ attention to shotguns which will be available in the upcoming game; namely, the Ashot and the Shambler. Like the other weapon types, shotguns offer players a huge variety of customisation options. The Metro Exodus Ashot starts as a small, single-shot holdout gun. However, with the right customisation, it can become a huge, quad-barrelled monstrosity.

“In its most basic form,” explains 4A Games; “the Ashot is a compact, single-shot, Metro-made shotgun that packs a punch but is slow to reload. It can get you out of a tough spot if used when your primary weapon is out of ammo, and when you need to quickly eliminate a mutant”; the Ashot boasts very high damage but conversely, very short effective range. With a single shot capacity, you’ll need to reload frequently.

Metro Exodus Ashot Configurations #1: The Duplet

The first configuration example given by 4A Games, the Duplet is much more akin to a classic double-barrelled shotgun. The weapon adds a long pair of Double Barrels to the gun, along with a stock and other accessories. Boasting greater stability and double the ammunition capacity, the Duplet is still best-suited to close range. If you want a more reliable standard shotgun than the Ashot, however, then the Duplet is a good choice.

Metro Exodus Ashot Configurations #2: The Quartet

“Why settle for two barrels when you can have four?” asks Creative Assembly, as they show off the second customisation example for the Metro Exodus Ashot; the Quartet. This weapon features Four Barrels, complete with a stabilising foregrip which gives significantly improved stability. Boasting the highest damage of any Ashot variant, the Quartet fires two barrels at once, delivering twice the power with a single pull of the trigger; “It takes double the ammunition, but solves problems in half the time.”
