Three months ago, 4A Games released their Metro Exodus DLC roadmap; a plan which spanned two future DLC releases. The first of these, entitled ‘The Two Colonels,’ is now available. 4A Games announced the launch with the release of a DLC trailer, which gives fans a glimpse at what’s included in the release, including the new flamethrower weapon.
The Two Colonels: The First Metro Exodus DLC
The Two Colonels is the first of three planned Metro Exodus DLC releases. Players will play as a new protagonist; Colonel Khlebnikov, while returning to a setting from the base game, albeit in the past. As Khlebnikov, players will explore the metro ruins of Novosibirsk, prior to the events of Metro Exodus. “The Two Colonels follows the story of Colonel Khlebnikov, father of Krill,” explains 4A Games; “as Colonel Miller retraces his steps in the doomed station at Novosibirsk. Discover the story of the ill-fated residents and wield a brand new weapon, the flame-thrower.”
Some areas in The Two Colonels may be familiar to players who completed the base game. However, it will also introduce new areas and characters. Of course, it also features the Flame-thrower, a new weapon which is ideally suited to the claustrophobic tunnels of Novosibirsk.
The new DLC is available to buy right now on all three major platforms (PC, Xbox One, and PS4). Of course, it’s available to play already for anybody who bought the game’s Expansion Pass. According to 4A Games, this DLC will take place principally underground, in the subterranean ruins of Novosibirsk. There won’t be an open-world area, as featured several times in the base game. However, the next upcoming DLC, ‘Sam’s Story,’ will be the opposite. It will take place in a large sandbox survival area. It’s currently unknown when this DLC will release, but it could release in early 2020.
