With the upcoming launch of the next-gen consoles, a period approaches where new games will release on both current-gen and next-gen platforms. As such, gamers are faced with the choice of buying games on their existing consoles or waiting until they acquire one of the new ones. Fortunately, Microsoft has launched the Xbox Smart Delivery program.
Games Confirmed for Xbox Smart Delivery
Of course, the Xbox Series X will have backwards compatibility as a launch feature. However, Microsoft’s Xbox Smart Delivery program offers gamers an answer to the decision of which console to buy games for. If a game is in the Smart Delivery program, players can safely buy it for the Xbox One. Then, as and when they acquire an Xbox Series X console, their games will be freely compatible with it too.
Today, Xbox confirmed a total of 14 different games which will feature Smart Delivery at launch. Cyberpunk 2077 has already been announced for this program. However, a whole range of other titles will now join it, including both older games and upcoming releases. These include Halo Infinite, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Destiny 2, DiRT 5, Scarlet Nexus, Chorus, Bloodlines 2, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, The Ascent, Call of the Sea, Gears 5, Second Extinction, and Metal: Hellslinger.
The Xbox Smart Delivery program offers gamers an option to upgrade their games for free to the next-gen version. This means that gamers don’t have to buy two versions of the same game. Importantly, the version which players buy won’t solely be at the graphical quality of the older-generation version. As and when players acquire an Xbox Series X, their Smart Delivery games will work just as well as if they had acquired them for the new console itself. In the coming months, it’s likely that other games will join the program; especially now that several major franchises are members of it.
