Microsoft Looking to Buy a Polish Game Studio

If you are thinking about getting the next Xbox, you probably have heard that Microsoft is putting an emphasis on first party exclusives, and is purchasing a lot of video game developers. Now, the director Borys Niespielak has said that the company was just in Poland to pick up another Polish game studio.

What Polish Game Studio Could Microsoft Be Looking to Buy?

Niespielak did not reveal what studio or studios Microsoft was looking to purchase. So, what are the possibilities? The first that springs to mind is, of course, CD Projekt Red. But this seems like the least likely possibility, considering what a huge and expensive studio this is.

There are a couple of other possibilities which also might be on Microsoft’s radar. Another well-known developer based in Poland is Dying Light’s Techland. The other studio which Xbox could be interested in is People Can Fly, the developers of Gears of War: Judgement and other titles. The latter does seem like it would be the most viable option given the relationship which the studio already has with Xbox.

We will not be surprised if Microsoft makes an announcement soon concerning whichever Polish studio it is attempting to buy, assuming that the companies reach an agreement. In the past, Xbox often has announced multiple acquisitions at once, so we wonder if there are any other studios in or outside Poland that the company is presently negotiating with.

Also, speaking of Polish game studio CD Projekt Red, those who have not had a chance to play The Witcher 3 may want to think about picking up an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Microsoft recently added The Witcher 3 to the service along with a few other exciting games. Check back in with us again soon for more updates on Xbox and its studio acquisitions moving into 2020.
