One of the latest features to arrive in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with the recent launch of Season 3 are the new “Mil-Sim Operators“. Essentially, this new Operator is a redesign of sorts for the game’s default operator; allowing players to choose to play as generic soldiers inspired by various real-world Special Forces.
What Are Modern Warfare & Warzone’s New Mil-Sim Operators?
In both Modern Warfare and Warzone, players have a range of Operators to play as; unique named characters who are members of the opposing Allegiance and Coalition factions. Alex, one of the protagonists of Modern Warfare’s story campaign, is the latest Operator to be added to this roster. However, if you don’t want to play as any of these characters, you can simply play as a ‘default’ operator; a generic, unnamed character. With the launch of Season 3, this default Operator is no more, and the new “Mil-Sim Operator” are taking their place.
Essentially, Mil-Sim Operators work like alternate skins for other operators, but solely for the default operator. The new Frogman UDT Mil-Sim Pack Bundle, for example, allows players to don an amphibious diving suit skin. If you don’t select a specific skin, however, then the Mil-Sim Operator’s skin is determined by whichever primary weapon type you’re using. In addition to the Frogman UDT bundle, players can unlock four Coalition Mil-Sim Operator skin sets as they progress through the Season 3 Battle Pass.
These skins, specifically, are as follows; at Tier 10, you can unlock the U.S. Expeditionar Force skin. At Tier 30, you’ll get the South Korean Special Forces skin. At Tier 50 you get the Pararescue skin, and finally at Tier 70, you’ll unlock the Terrorist Special Police Force skin. More Mil-Sim Operator skins will be coming to the game via store bundles in the future. Now that Infinity Ward has introduced the character, they will no doubt continue to expand the options for Mil-Sim Operators.
