Fans of MLB The Show can’t wait for the 2019 edition to officially hit stores nationwide. However, until then, predicting what may be added to the latest version of The Show is quite a popular topic online among gamers.
A recent video released on YouTube has revealed a few new items that will be on the upcoming version of The Show 19. While a lot of this is under the assumption of where and how these new additions may fit in, the video from SGO is making early waves for gamers already.
New player creations, perks?
The first new feature may be the gamers’ ability to create their own player, literally from the ground up. Perhaps a storyline for each player?
How, when and where your player got his humble beginnings? Face recognition? While it is anyone’s guess, it seems that this feature along with a new perks board may be for the Road To The Show series.
Moving on to what is believed to be new perks, the video reveals four categories that include Captain, Heart and Soul, Lightning Rod and Maverick.
Trying to predict what new perks might be added makes the excitement for the latest version of MLB The Show half the fun! Lightning Rod could be the flash type player that can spark the team and single-handedly change the game, like a Mookie Betts type of player.
Maverick? That’s easy. Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge, Manny Machado. The MLB bad boys!
Heart and Soul sounds like a Derek Jeter, David Ortiz type of guy. Someone who when you think of them, you instantly think of that city and how much they mean to it. Dustin Pedroia, Corey Kluber and Clayton Kershaw come to mind.
Contenders to pretenders
The final reveal is believed to be part of the franchise mode. This screenshot indicates that teams will be broken up into categories of how their season is predicted to play out.
The four categories labeled favorites, contenders, underdogs and longshots shed some insight into which teams may have the best shot at winning it all in 2019 and which are still trying to get it together.
To no one’s surprise, the Yankees, Red Sox, Astros and Dodgers are all listed in the favorite’s category. All are talented and deep and have many players heading into 2019 with a ranking of 85 or higher.
While most fans know which teams are supposed to do well, the real fun of the season is trying to predict which team will come out of the blue and become a contender. Last year that team was the Oakland A’s. Who will it be in 2019?
The Tigers? White Sox? How about the retooled Minnesota Twins? That is the beauty of sports, everyone is a contender on opening day!
