The final MLB The Show 19 player ratings before the 2019 MLB All-Star break have arrived. On June 28, MLB The Show revealed two new Diamonds in Kirby Yates and Walker Buehler, along with four new Gold player ratings.
Kirby Yates continues climb
Just who is Kirby Yates? The journeyman has spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels before landing in San Diego. This season has been like no other for Yates.
In 36 appearances out of the bullpen, Yates has earned a league leading 26 saves. He also has a WHIP of 0.90. At the age of 32, Kirby Yates has caught lightning in a bottle as he should be on his way to Cleveland this upcoming week as a member of the National League All-Star squad. This week, Yates jumped from an 83 Gold to an 85 Diamond rating. Well done Kirby!
The other latest Diamond belongs to Walker Buehler. Buehler has been lights out for the LA Dodgers this season. With an 8-1 record and a WHIP of 0.96, Walker Buehler has been a great surprise for the Dodgers in 2019. Buehler jumped up two points in the latest ratings from an 83 to an 85 putting him at Diamond status.
New Gold, Bryce on a mini slide
Bryce Harper is a beast. Every baseball fan knows this. However, Harper is trending down for the second straight player rating update. Harper fell again in the latest player rating as he dropped from an 86 to an 85 this week.
On a more positive note, Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Ketel Marte and Chad Green have all made the jump to Gold status. While all four of these players are well deserving, Alonso is the one player that keeps impressing everyone around the league.
The Mets rookie continues to feast on National League pitching as he has already crushed 27 home runs on the season.
