The latest MLB The Show 19 roster update has arrived. This week’s update has several players on the move. In fact, nearly 70 player upgrades and downgrades took place, including the announcement of two brand new Diamonds in Oakland’s Matt Chapman and Chicago Cubs star Anthony Rizzo.
Matt Chapman, Anthony Rizzo hit Diamond level
You can’t get any higher than Diamond status on The Show, so Matt Chapman and Anthony Rizzo are in rare company.
Chapman, who received a +1 boost this week, moved up to an 85 OVR rating. Rizzo, who is also now an 85 OVR, had a +2 boost. Chapman had a heck of a week. The A’s third baseman hit 3 home runs, scored 8 runs and finished the 7-day period with a .621 slugging percentage.
While Chapman had a nice stretch, Anthony Rizzo had an even better one! Rizzo collected 13 hits in the past seven days, three of which were home runs. He also finished with a .481 average and near .900 slugging percentage. That is what they call doin’ work!
Silver to Gold
Matt Chapman and Anthony Rizzo are now Diamonds. However, it is also important to point out that six players made the jump from Silver to Gold status.
The biggest mover in the latest MLB The Show roster update in the Gold category belongs to Pittsburgh’s Josh Bell. Bell (+3) in the latest ratings pushed him from 78 to 81 OVR. Bell is hitting a stout .387 in his last 15 games which include 6 home runs, 13 RBI and a slugging percentage of .774.
In his fourth full season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bell is coming into his own.
