Manny Machado was one of the most sought-after free agents in baseball. After a long offseason of searching, he now has a home. Machado will now don a San Diego Padres uniform for an estimated 10-years as he reportedly inked a $300-million-dollar deal on Tuesday. Already MLB The Show 19 roster update changes must be taking place!
Padres ratings increase
With the addition of Machado, the Padres MLB The Show 19 roster update rankings will surely improve from a year ago. How can they not when they signed the top-rated shortstop from last season? In 2018, Machado had an 86 rating on MLB The Show, which was the best amongst shortstops.
Last season, San Diego was rated No. 24 overall on The Show. They were 3rd in speed, 6th on defense, 20th in contact, 24th power, and 27th pitching. With Machado in a lineup that also added Ian Kinsler this offseason, expect the contact and power ratings to take several steps forward.
Harper still looking
Now that Machado is a member of the San Diego Padres, gamers are still wondering where cover athlete Bryce Harper will land. Harper, like Machado, held the top-rated ranking at his position in 2018.
Harper was listed at an 88 rating last year at this time. Whether his rating goes up or down is still debatable, but as of right now, gamers just want to know which team he will represent in 2019.

Many gamers believe Harper’s rating should drop after his 2018 season. Harper hit 34 home runs and drove in 100 RBI, however, he only hit .249. He also has a WAR of 1.3, which is a far cry from his 27.4 career mark. These two all-stars changing squads in the offseason may be the biggest MLB The Show 19 roster updates for players in years!
