The MLB Home Run Derby is scheduled to take place in just over 4 hours from now, and this year’s field is stacked! This lineup is full of young, raw power. In fact, the 2019 edition will have the youngest player to ever swing away for the fences in a derby competition – and he has the Moxy to walk away the winner! Vladimir Guerrero Jr. may not have been on Toronto’s Opening Day roster, however, since his arrival it is hard to picture this team without him.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ready for action
When the Toronto Blue Jays called up Vladimir Guerrero Jr. they knew the hype would follow. Now it is following the youngster all the way to the mid-summer classic! Vlad Jr. is one of the eight players who will be creating some memorable moments slugging it out in the 2019 Home Run Derby in Cleveland on Monday evening.
While the son of one of the best hitters to ever play the game has a long way to go before he can officially be labeled a star, he is gaining popularity on the field and on MLB The Show.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. currently holds an 80 OVR player rating, which puts him in Gold status. He will be the No. 8 seed in the Home Run Derby, but don’t let that fool you. His chances of winning are just as good as any in the field.
At just 20 years of age, Vladdy will be the youngest player to compete in the modern Home Run Derby.
