Two of baseball’s all-time pitching sensations, Whitey Ford and Bob Gibson, passed away in October. Both legends are now available with high-rated player cards for MLB The Show 20 Diamond Dynasty. Fans of the popular mode can pick up a free card in honor of Whitey Ford, and grind through a new Conquest map to get Bob Gibson. Here are the details on how to get both player items for your Diamond Dynasty roster.
Free Whitey Ford in MLB The Show 20 Diamond Dynasty
Pitcher Whitey Ford recently passed away at the age of 91. He spent the entirety of his MLB career (1950 through 1967) pitching for the New York Yankees, with the exception of 1951 and 1952. During those years he was participating in military service.
He had a Hall of Fame career which featured 10 All-Star appearances, a Cy Young Award, and six World Series rings, along with a WS MVP award. Ford also won the ERA title twice in his career. In honor of the late baseball legend, MLB The Show 20 Diamond Dynasty is giving everyone a free 95 overall Diamond card.
To claim the Whitey Ford card, gamers simply need to log into the Diamond Dynasty mode and head to the Store. There’s a free “In Memory of Whitey Ford” pack available there. Choose it, and he’ll be added to your available players.
As of this report, there’s just under a week remaining to claim the card, so it is a limited-time availability item. The card is currently selling for a Quick Sell value of 5,000 MLB The Show Stubs, for those who decide they’d prefer the currency.
Bob Gibson Conquest Map also available
Former Cardinals pitching legend Bob Gibson also passed away earlier this month at the age of 84. His career spanned 1959 through 1975 with St. Louis. Gibson earned an MVP award, two Cy Youngs, two World Series rings, and nine All-Star appearances during his Hall of Fame career.
His card isn’t available to claim for free like Whitey Ford’s in MLB The Show 20 Diamond Dynasty. Instead, gamers need to defeat the new Bob Gibson Conquest Map (below). In Conquest mode, the objective is to defeat territories and gain fans. The goal is ultimately to overthrow the other teams on the map.
As seen above, the new map is in the shape of Gibson’s No. 45 and features the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and of course, the St. Louis Cardinals. By defeating the map, gamers will unlock the 99 OVR Diamond Bob Gibson card with attributes shown below.
