MLB The Show 20 Live Series 1 Event Adds Kenny Lofton, Fred McGriff Diamond Rewards

The rewards for MLB The Show 20 Live Series 1 have officially updated on Thursday bringing Diamond items for two all-time greats. Leading the way is none other than Fred McGriff, a multiple-time All-Star and an MLB champion. He’s joined by the speedy Golden Glove Indians star Kenny Lofton. Here are more details about the new items and how to get them.

Over the past several weeks we’ve seen a number of former Atlanta Braves players become part of MLB The Show 20 programs. They’ve included pitchers, John Smoltz and Tom Glavine. Now gamers can unlock Braves World Series champion Fred McGriff and six-time MLB All-Star Kenny Lofton through the Show’s Live Series 1.

A quick reveal video arrived on May 7 giving some gameplay highlight clips of McGriff and Lofton. In addition, it shows off their 1994 All-Star cards available as rewards.

With Fred McGriff, gamers can add a leftie with Diamond hitting. McGriff’s card has a 94 overall rating which includes 100 Contact Right, 81 Contact Left, 105 Power Right, 92 Power Left, 98 Durability, and 92 Control. The 6-foot-3 first baseman has Quirks including Hitting Machine, Bomber, Pressure Cooker, and Unbreakable.

The Kenny Lofton Diamond reward features a 91 overall rating. Lofton is also a leftie with Diamond hitting. While McGriff can only play at first base, Lofton’s versatile in that his main position is center and he can play the other two outfield spots.

Lofton’s attributes include 113 Contact Right, 99 Contact Left, 91 Vision, 94 Durability, and 87 Control. He also has impressive Fielding at 91 and 92 Reaction along with 99 for Speed and Steals. Quirks for Lofton include Hitting Machine, 20/20 Vision, Soft Hands, Speedster, and Thief.

Yes, this guy can become a great fielder and leadoff man, or just a great pinch-runner if you’ve already got a stacked lineup.

How does MLB The Show 20 Live Series 1 work?

In MLB The Show 20 Live Series 1, you’ll play in three inning games with your Diamond Dynasty team. However, the rules indicate your team can only use Live Series players with a minimum of 62 overall and maximum 99 overall. Your team can have a maximum of 85 for overall rating.

Entries are free for this mode on The Show. You’ll play on the All-Star Difficulty level and try to rack up wins to collect rewards. If you get two losses, you’ll be eliminated from the event and will need to restart it.

Just one win gets you an MLB The Show 20 pack. At three wins, you’ll unlock a 78 overall Manny Machado. Five wins will earn a Silver player card while 10 wins will earn three MLB The Show 20 packs. Other rewards include MLB The Show Stubs, as well as Headliners or Ballin’ is a Habit packs.

To unlock Kenny Lofton, you’ll need 35 wins in MLB The Show 20 Live Series 1 events. For Fred McGriff, it’s going to be 50 wins. However, for those gamers who play the game a lot, this should be nothing.

The latest Live Series goes from Thursday, May 7, until Thursday, May 14, giving plenty of time to get those wins!
