When MLB The Show 20 arrives in just under two weeks, gamers will be able to participate in a new mode called Showdown Mode. Within this mode in Diamond Dynasty, gamers are going to be able to draft a team from available options and compete in different challenges. The end result will be earning rewards to help boost one’s Diamond Dynasty team.
What is MLB The Show 20 Showdown mode?
MLB The Show 20 Showdown mode is a brand new part of the popular Diamond Dynasty where gamers construct and adapt their own team of baseball stars. At the very start of the new mode, gamers will have a pool of available players to draft “key contributors” to their team from. These particular players are going to be with you throughout the entire course of Showdown mode, so choose wisely.
In addition to drafting the various players, gamers can also equip “perks” for the team. These give boosts to your squad “in certain situations” during games.
Some of the examples of the perks are:
- Lone Wolf – Increased pitch accuracy
- Running on Fumes – Exit velocity boost on normal swings when the opposing pitcher has less than 50% energy and the bases are empty.
- Spark Plug – Signification contact boost in the 7th inning or later
- Jump Start – Contact boost on the first two pitches of an at-bat
- Heart Attack – Significant contact boost while losing and runners are on base.
- Off the Radar – Significant contact boost on pitches slightly outside the strike zone.
- Inner Peace – Massive contact boost on pitches down the middle.
As gamers progress through MLB The Show 20 Showdown mode, more draft rounds become available to get more players to help the team achieve greater success. There are also challenges to earn more players, perks, and even runs to use in a “final showdown.”
That final showdown is against a legendary pitcher in the mode. It involves making a comeback to take the lead and then scoring as many runs possible until a set number of outs is reached. By conquering the final Showdown, gamers can earn rewards such as program progress, Stubs, XP, and Packs.
The new Showdown mode joins the new Custom Leagues which San Diego Studio introduced ahead of The Show 20’s release.
