Many of the top baseball players from the month of June are being celebrated with upgraded items for Diamond Dynasty in San Diego Studio’s MLB The Show 21. Among them are several All-Star players including the Washington Nationals’ Kyle Schwarber, and Houston Astros’ Carlos Correa. Let’s dive into the complete release to see what’s available with the MLB The Show 21 Monthly Awards players and items.
Kyle Schwarber is June POTM with new Diamond Lightning card
At the upcoming MLB All-Star Game, the Nationals’ Kyle Schwarber will be amongst National League reserves joining teammate Juan Soto. His June stats gave him the edge needed to claim another honor, as he was named MLB The Show 21 Monthly Awards winner for June. That results in a sweet new Lightning Diamond card for Schwarber which features a 98 overall rating.
As of this report, Schwarber is leading his team in home runs (25) and RBIs (53). He’s also third in hits (67) and average (.265 BA) for a Nationals team that is second in the National League at 42-43.
While some felt Shohei Ohtani might get the POTM card, Schwarber was easily one of the hottest players in June. Along with a .280 average, he hit 16 homers in 18 games. That tied marks set by Barry Bonds in 2001 and Sammy Sosa in 1998 for most in an 18-game span in MLB history, per ESPN Stats & Info.
His new Lightning card brings Diamond Hitting and Defense to Diamond Dynasty rosters, complete with 110 Contact Right, 97 Contact Left, 125 Power Right, and 100 Power Left. In terms of Defense, he brings 80 Fielding to go with 94 Accuracy and 75 Arm Strength attributes.
Check out his attributes below for the new card, which players earn as part of a rewards path in DD mode.
Prior to Schwarber getting the June POTM, gamers saw the Toronto Blue Jays’ Marcus Semian win the distinction in May.
