Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s second season may have already launched, but just like during the first season, Activision has now released a separate trailer to showcase the two new Modern Warfare Season 2 weapons. These particular additions are the Grau 5.56 Assault Rifle and the Striker 45 SMG, both of which are available in the free tiers of the Season 2 Battle Pass.
The New Modern Warfare Season 2 Weapons
Just like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s first post-launch season, Season 2 gives fans access to two new weapons. Of course, Season 1 did eventually add a third new weapon – the Crossbow – which wasn’t announced at the start of the season. That format will actually be mirrored in Season 2. A third new weapon, which is as yet unrevealed, will be arriving at some point later in the season. For now though, players can unlock the Grau 5.56 and the Striker 45.
Both of these new Modern Warfare Season 2 weapons are available as tier rewards in the Battle Pass. However, you don’t need to pay for the full Battle Pass to access them; both are included in the free tiers which are available to all players. You can unlock the Grau 5.56 assault rifle for reaching Tier 15, while the Striker 45 SMG unlocks at Tier 31. The former offers players a more lightweight option than other assault rifles, favouring a highly-mobile style of play. Meanwhile, the latter offers players an SMG which functions better at longer range than other options.
Of course, both of these weapons are available now. Indeed, many players will likely have already unlocked them by now. However, the release of this new trailer does mirror Activision’s marketing strategy for Season 1. In that case, they also released a trailer showcasing the new weapons some time after the launch of the season. In all likelihood, the trailer is aimed at existing players who may have moved on to other games in recent weeks, enticing them to return for Season 2.
