During a recent NBA Players Association event for the newest group of rookies, members of the 2019 Draft class received their NBA 2K20 rookie ratings. That included rookies beyond the top five that were previously revealed. In addition, many of the new NBA rookies got to try out the brand new 2K20 game with Ronnie 2K.
Ronnie 2K meets with rookies at NBPA event
When the NBA 2K20 ratings reveal live stream took place, they unveiled the top five draft picks’ ratings. That included No. 1 pick Zion Williamson, No. 2 Ja Morant, No. 3 RJ Barrett, and so forth. As expected, Zion Williamson had the top rating of all rookies for the new game with a 78 overall. He and his former Duke teammate RJ Barrett were on hand at the recent NBPA event, where RJ got to play the game a bit with Ronnie 2K Singh. Many of the other rookies were also in attendance.
Ronnie also posted footage from the event on his Instagram Story, which is only available for a limited time online. It includes brief glimpses of the gameplay as rookies and Ronnie play the game.
Ronnie got to talk about the game with the rookies and how they felt about their numbers. Some were fine with the numbers, others felt they needed a boost. That’s usually the way things are when it comes to sports games, but the rookies are in a first season and will need to give the ratings crew further proof.
New NBA 2K20 rookie ratings arrive online
On Twitter, Ronnie 2K began to retweet some of the rookies drafted a bit lower in the order. So we now have more NBA 2K20 rookie ratings to look at such as the Boston Celtics’ Grant Williams who will have a 72 overall.
Williams was the No. 22 pick in this past June’s NBA Draft. The junior out of Tennessee has clearly impressed the NBA 2K20 ratings crew enough to get a decent number heading into this year’s game.
Also among the NBA 2K20 rookie ratings was No. 26 pick Dylan Windler. The small forward drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers gets a 71 heading into his debut season in the league.
Many fans are already complaining to Ronnie 2K that the number is disrespectful for Windler as he was amongst the best shooters in all of college. The small forward joins a Cleveland Cavs team that also features Darius Garland, the No. 5 pick. Garland brings a 77 OVR to the Cavs lineup, as he has the same rating as No. 5 pick De’Andre Hunter.
Also receiving a 71 overall for the NBA 2K20 rookie ratings is the Chicago Bulls’ Daniel Gafford. He captioned his tweet saying he was “speechless” and “Ya’ll made my dreams come true.”
When a fan commented on Gafford’s ratings tweet to tell him it was a low number, Gafford replied saying that doesn’t matter to him and he’s happy to be part of the game. Gafford was the No. 38 pick and will play in the Windy City this season with fellow rookie Coby White. While the UNC star was part of the recent event, his NBA 2K20 rookie ratings have yet to be revealed.
Other rookie ratings revealed so far include Darius Bazley (Thunder) 70, Rui Hachimura (Wizards) 73, Cameron Johnson (Suns) 72, Sekou Doumboya (Pistons) 73 and Ty Jerome (Suns) 72. We may have to wait a bit to see the rest of the first-round picks as they may have been asked to tweet out their photo with ratings.
The new NBA 2K20 game officially arrives for PS4, Xbox One, and PCs on September 6, 2019. See details on the NBA 2K20 pre-orders for what each of the different editions include.
