Tamriel Rebuilt is one of the most ambitious Elder Scrolls mods around, and also one of the oldest. The mod, for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, has been in the works for seventeen years! A huge new update called “Old Ebonheart” has now been released for the mod. It brings significant landmass changes, new quests, and new settlements. In addition, it includes new quest-lines for most existing factions.
The New Update for Tamriel Rebuilt
The 18.07 Release update, entitled “Old Ebonheart”, has been a long time in the making according to the team behind Tamriel Rebuilt. “We are proud to unveil our first major continent release since Sacred East,” announced the team, on the mod’s website; “Old Ebonheart is the very heart of Imperial power in Morrowind, a slice of civilized Cyrodiil in the alien east. But even within its fortified walls, danger and intrigue lurks and many an unwary traveller have lost their money and their influence here… or worse.”
The major settlement of Old Ebonheart is, as one might expect, the biggest new thing in 18.07; “With it at the forefront,” the update explains; “we moved our finalized landmass further west to the river Thirr, the largest river in Morrowind. The new settlements of the Aanthirin (“around-the-Thirr”) region, namely Dondril, Felms Ithul, and Vhul, are also made available, with local dialogue, a new (non-player) guild, and several miscellaneous quests.”
The city of Old Ebonheart itself is full of quests and unique dialogue. It also features new faction questlines for the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, Imperial Legion, Imperial Cult, and East Empire Company. The city also includes the Briricca Bank; a major Heartland banking family which will allow players to open accounts and do business. Finally, the city is home to a Khajiit embassy, which contains a number of Suthay-Raht Khajiit.
