The NBA 2K League APAC Invitational event recently wrapped up in Hong Kong to help determine gamers for the league. The two-day event yielded a number of players qualified for 2K League draft. In addition, one team emerged as the invitational champions from the event held this past weekend.
NBA 2K League APAC Invitational wraps up
The NBA 2K League event took place in Hong Kong beginning at on Saturday (Feb. 2) and concluded on Sunday (Feb. 3). It featured players from Australia, China, New Zealand, and the Philippines looking to gain eligibility for the upcoming 2019 NBA 2K League Draft.
The objective was to find “elite players” from Asia-Pacific who are qualified for the 2K League draft. As seen in the photo above, Brendan Donohue is with 20 players who they feel are amongst the best-of-the-best in NBA 2K competition from the region.

A report via Dimer mentioned that among the elite players from the Philippines was the NBA 2K16 Asia Tournament Champion @d_RIAL_dea. There was also NBA 2K18 Asia Tournament Champion @IamPhilippeIV and the 2K17 Champion @custergalas.
Australia and New Zealand had gamers representing them as well. Their players included Newcastle’s @bradshortland, Wellington’s @SquareUpPencil, and Brisbane’s @Posteriser, among others.
Speaking of Australia, the country’s version of the game has a unique cover. While the NBA 2K19 cover athlete is Giannis Antetounmkpo in the United States, the Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons graces the cover of the Aussie version. Simmons said in a statement he felt “it’s cool to be an ambassador for both” basketball and NBA 2K.
NBA 2K League APAC Invitational champion crowned
While the NBA 2K League APAC Invitational was looking to find a number of talented players, there was a champion crowned at the event. That went to the Kersh1Flood team as they won the finals matchup over Double Mash. A video clip posted on NBA 2K League’s Twitter shows off the win and announcement. Congratulations are in order to this team for a hard-fought tournament victory!
