T-Wolves Gaming are the official NBA 2K League Champions! The NBA 2K League Finals 2019 experienced a lengthy delay on Saturday night, but it wasn’t enough to stop the expansion team from reigning supreme. Behind their star player BearDaBeast, they took the series 3-2 to make history in just their first season in the 2K League.
NBA 2K League Finals 2019 comes with delay for 76ers GC, T-Wolves
The NBA 2K League Finals 2019 edition brought two exciting teams to the grand finale with 76ers GC and expansion team T-Wolves Gaming. They would trade blowout wins in the first two games. Game 1 saw T-Wolves jump to a 1-0 lead after 71-36 rout. However, 76ers responded in Game 2 with a 70-23 win of their own.
After that there appeared to be some technical difficulties. A Game 3 started but had to be restarted. A series of Twitter posts from 2K League indicated they were testing the setup at the 2K Finals arena in NYC.
Eventually things were able to get back on track and the games resumed. The next two games were much closer with T-Wolves winning 56-47 in Game 3 and 76ers winning Game 4, 53-46. That would make it a 2-2 series and in need of the deciding game.
That fifth game didn’t arrive until early morning on Sunday, August 4. It would provide a late night victory celebration for expansion team T-Wolves Gaming after they won, 52-35. Here’s the game winning moment for the team.
To get to the finals, T-Wolves was able to defeat Kings Guard Gaming and Warriors Gaming Squad in their first two matchups of the NBA 2K League Playoffs. Then, they defeated a 76ers GC team that also were the 2K League Finals favorites. With that, they’ve made league history as 2019 NBA 2K League champs in their expansion season.
BearDaBeast captures MVP Award for series
The NBA 2K League Finals 2019 featured two major star performers with 76ers GC’s Radiant and T-Wolves’ BearDaBeast. Radiant had a huge performance in Game 4 to help his team force the decisive fifth game. However, it was the T-Wolves getting the series win and BearDaBeast getting that Finals MVP trophy.
He had 32 points and 10 assists in the Game 1 win as well as 23 points and eight assists in T-Wolves’ Game 5 series-clinching victory. He was certainly a “beast” in the 2K League Finals and spoke about the win after celebrating a bit with his team.
In similar fashion to this year’s NBA Championship, the Finals MVP was not part of the NBA MVP discussion. One has to think BearDaBeast should be mentioned amongst the top players in the league after propelling his team through the 2K Playoffs to a championship win.
Congratulations are certainly in order for T-Wolves Gaming on capturing the win at the NBA 2K League Finals 2019. They began this season at just 3-6 but persevered and showed they are worthy of that championship trophy.
