NBA 2K19 is officially coming out on September 11, yet its developer is already preparing a big tournament. The video game is expected to be a huge success, so this move by 2K Sports isn’t surprising. The tournament will have a couple of valuable prizes, including the $250,000 cash prize for a winner.
MyTEAM players will be able to participate in this tournament on October 13. The tournament will last for four months and will end just before the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend. Finalists of the tournament will both win a trip to this big event, but there is no doubt that everyone will be fighting for the grand prize.
NBA 2k19 Tournament details
2K Sports will host the tournament in the new MyTEAM Unlimited mode. This is basically a no-restriction mode as it allows players to choose any 13 players from their collection.
Tournament qualifications will start on October 13, around one month after the game comes out. Players who qualify will advance to a single-elimination tournament which will start on February 2.
The tournament will have two 16-team brackets, which means there will be 32 players in total. PlayStation 4 players will be put in one bracket, while Xbox One players will be put in the opposing one. In the end, the winner of each console will play in the best-of-three finals for a chance to win $250,000.
The requirements
NBA 2K19 players will have to meet certain requirements before entering the tournament. Every participant has to be at least 18 years old and own a copy of the video game. Furthermore, the tournament will be available for players from 23 countries, but it won’t include every US state.
Gamers who have preordered the NBA 2K19 20th Anniversary Edition will be able to access the game in just a few hours! The popular basketball video game will be playable at midnight eastern time on September 7.
