In previous seasons, seeing a headline about a LeBron James ratings drop might look like an April Fool’s joke. However, that’s not the case on Monday as a new NBA 2K19 player ratings update arrived. In the latest look at which players climbed or fell, none other than King James is amongst those with ratings drops. Dallas’ Jalen Brunson was one of a few players who surged.
NBA 2K19 Player Ratings Update: LeBron amongst ratings drops
By now the story of Lebron James‘ first season with Los Angeles is pretty much wrapped up without a “happily ever after” type ending. The team officially fell from playoff contention when they lost to the Brooklyn Nets. After playing a few more games after that, LeBron got the news that the Lakers were shutting him down for the final six games of the season. LeBron was never quite the same after his Christmas Day groin injury, and he sees a one-point drop to a 95 overall. How the mighty have fallen!
As seen above, LeBron is actually in good company in terms of All-Stars who fell by a point. Kevin Durant is down one as well as Stephen Curry and Paul George. Let’s face it, even though they’re amongst the top 10 players in the NBA, these guys can’t sustain incredible stats always. In the cases of KD, Steph, and PG13 they’ll need to save a bit for the playoffs. LeBron will be back healthier and stronger for the 2019-20 season.
More than a few players fell by two points, with two guys dropping by even more. The Brooklyn Nets’ Caris LeVert and Bucks’ Pau Gasol each fell three points. LeVert is now a 78 OVR while the former All-Star and NBA champ Gasol is down to a 76.
NBA 2K19 Player Ratings Update: Jalen Brunson gets serious boost
When it comes to the 2018 NBA Draft class of rookies, the players getting the most attention are the Hawks’ Trae Young and Mavs’ Luka Doncic. While these two guys are leading the Rookie of the Year race, Doncic’s teammate Jalen Brunson is now getting recognized too.
Brunson went 5-for-11 for 18 points as part of the starting lineup this past Sunday. he also grabbed two rebounds, dished out four assists, and had a steal in his team’s 106-103 win over OKC. The Villanova product is averaging 9.2 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.3 rebounds. Over the past five games, he’s averaged 13.4 points and seems deserving of his plus-4 boost to become a 76 overall in 2K19.
Fellow rookie Trae Young received a two-point boost to move to an 84 in the game, while Doncic remained steady with his rating. Other notable boosts included Cavs rookie Collin Sexton up two points to a 77, and Christian Wood surging five points to become a 73 overall.
