A new component for the popular NBA 2K video game was announced on Monday called MyPlayer Nation. It’s where playing the video game can bring real rewards, or at least the opportunity to buy them. The main selling point for the feature will be that gamers will be able to participate in a program with in-game and real-life sneakers as rewards. Here are more details about NBA 2K20 MyPlayer Nation and the Nike Gamer Exclusive program.
What is NBA 2K20 MyPlayer Nation about?
The new program is a collaboration involving 2K and Nike. According to a press release that arrived on October 21, NBA 2K20 MyPlayer Nation will be a side-by-side mode that goes in conjunction with the NBA season. With the mode, gamers can play through certain challenges. Doing so can unlock “a chance” to buy certain exclusive Nike sneakers.Β One of the first pairs revealed as a possible acquisition is the Nike LeBron 17 “Bron 2K” exclusives.
Here’s a 30-second trailer NBA 2K20 released about MyPlayer Nation and the Nike Gamer Exclusives featuring LeBron James and others.
The first challenge for NBA 2K20 MyPlayer Nation will involve leveling up your MyPlayer to a 98 overall rating. That would eclipse the current OVR for Lakers superstar LeBron James, a 97 in the game. For gamers skilled enough to achieve such a feat, they may be able to get their hands on an exclusive. However, it’s restricted to players in the United States and not for PC gamers. Based on the trailer, the opportunity to get the exclusive sneakers comes through the Nike SNKRS mobile app.
Will gamers embrace the new concept?
The main concept behind the new NBA 2K20 MyPlayer Nation is the idea that some exclusive sneakers are hard to get unless you’re super ambitious or have connections. Most people that get their hands on exclusives wait in line for hours on release day or are able to buy them when they go on sale via the internet. Resale values can be quite high, making it a lucrative endeavor.
There’s absolutely no guarantee that those participating in the NBA 2K20 MyPlayer Nation will be able to cop the sneakers they earn the opportunity for. It’s possible they will become unavailable before one can even pay for them. That said, it should be interesting to see how much positive reaction this new feature brings, as many gamers continue to vent frustrations over the NBA 2K20 gameplay issues.
