A chance at a trip to NBA 2020 All-Star Weekend and $250,000 are among the prizes up for grabs in the NBA 2K20 MyTeam Unlimited Tournament. On Tuesday, NBA 2K revealed the details for this year’s edition of the tournament featuring talented gamers on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One. Here’s the latest information you’ll need to enter and possibly get a chance at the top prize.
How to qualify for NBA 2K20 MyTeam Unlimited Tournament
The latest edition of the MyTeam Unlimited tournament will be open to residents 18 years or older in every state except for Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, and New Orleans as well as residents in Canada except for those in Quebec. Residents of other countries including Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, and Spain are also eligible.
Entering the tournament requires having a copy of the NBA 2K20 video game, as well as being an Xbox Gold or PS Plus member, and having an internet connection. Without those things, it’s impossible to enter the competition. In the MyTeam Unlimited, gamers will select 13 player cards from their deck to compete in 5-on-5 games with NBA rules in effect.
There will be four “qualifier gamedays” for the event, with the first of those dates coming on Saturday, October 12. The other dates fall on November 16, December 14, and January 18. To get into the gameday a contestant must win 10 NBA 2K20 MyTeam Unlimited games.
Once entered into a GameDay, a contestant tries to win as many games as possible within the four-hour time limit. Each of the wins gives points towards a total score. At the end of GameDay, the four contestants holding the top scores for each console qualifies for the single-elimination tournament. That takes place on January 25, 2020.
Trip to All-Star Weekend & $250,000 prize
The four qualifying contests per console on the four GameDays all will compete in that single-elimination tournament. That ultimately produces a winner for the PS4 and a winner for the Xbox One.
Each of them earns trips to attend All-Star Weekend in Chicago, Illinois in 2020. The two winners will battle head-to-head in the NBA 2K20 MyTeam Unlimited Tournament finals for a grand prize of $250,000!
Last year’s tournament featured Detroit’s Xbox One champion Dymaris “SkippTooMyLou” Jones winning the 2K19 MyTeam contest. NBA 2K indicates that over one million players competed in last year’s event, the first edition of the tournament.
