A total of 22 NBA teams are in Florida at the league’s bubble site preparing for the season restart in several weeks. However, life isn’t quite the same for the players as they’re accustomed to, so they’re finding ways to cure boredom.
That includes fishing at the Wide World of Sports Complex, practicing music, or playing video games. The Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis and LeBron James were participating in the latter of those activities and surprised fans by showing up in the NBA 2K20 Park recently.
Lakers players appear in NBA 2K20 Park online
YouTuber Joe Knows was amongst the fans who witnessed the surprise appearance of three Lakers players in NBA 2K20 Park mode. In addition to LeBron and Davis, their teammate Quinn Cook was also there to participate in the game. In fact, Joe Knows plays against Cook and talks to him regularly, so he knew ahead of time of the Lakers’ stars plans to play.
For LeBron James, it’s rare to see the Los Angeles Lakers star in the NBA video game, unless it’s someone’s creation. Joe Knows mentioned that it was still extremely difficult to get into their particular park area on the NBA 2K20 game. He also felt that maybe King James watched his LeBron build video to make himself a MyPLAYER for the game.
In a YouTube video that goes a bit over 10:30, Joe Knows talks about the surreal and fun experience he had with the Lakers stars’ involvement in the game.
Lakers preparing to finish season, capture title
As mentioned, LeBron’s Lakers are one of 22 NBA teams at the bubble site for a season restart. The NBA chose to bring players and personnel to the site to put strict health and safety measures in place during the coronavirus pandemic.
All players and team’s traveling parties were placed into quarantine upon arrival for 48 hours. In addition, testing for COVID-19 is taking place daily for all players.
The Lakers are still considered favorites to capture the NBA Championship. They’ll play in eight games starting at the end of this month. Those will be part of the final “regular season” schedule to determine teams’ seeding for the playoffs.
The Lakers begin their schedule on Thursday, July 30. They’re in the second game of a doubleheader on TNT against the Clippers.
Finding ways to prevent boredom while getting ready are part of the plan. It’s always possible that LeBron is studying his opponents on the NBA 2K20 game ahead of those real games.
