As the NBA 2K20 player ratings continue to arrive, there will be disappointed and shocked fans seeking to understand the numbers. That could be true with some of Lonzo Ball’s loyal fans based on the rating the third-year player received. Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets’ Clint Cappela received what appears to be a well-deserved number heading into the 2019 NBA season. Both players are now confirmed in terms of their overall ratings and have brand new NBA 2K20 screenshots from the game.
Lonzo Ball’s low number in NBA 2K20 player ratings
This offseason brought the blockbuster trade that nearly happened during the 2018-19 NBA season. The New Orleans Pelicans dealt Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for several players and picks. Among the player were two former top-three picks in Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball. Previously, Magic Johnson referred to Ball as the future of the Lakers’ franchise, but that was before LeBron James arrived as a free agent.
For the NBA 2K20 player ratings, Lonzo Ball will start at 79 overall for the game’s launch. It seems like a fair number based on his limited production and injury issues he had during much of his season.
He averaged 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists last season, but only participated in 47 games. In the season prior, he only played 52 games. His ability to contribute is already questionable amongst many circles.
However, Lonzo gets a fresh start with a new team in the Pelicans and is going to have Zion Williamson as his teammate. Williamson enters the game as an 81 overall rookie, so it’s going to be interesting to see how each of these players progress over the coming season.
Clint Capela earns sold overall number for 2K
The Houston Rockets’ Clint Capela has averaged a steady double-double throughout his career. Just last season, his numbers dipped slightly but he still averaged 17.8 points and 13.8 boards per game for a contending Houston team. He starts out NBA 2K20 season with an 85 overall rating.
Capela is likely to get even more opportunities in the coming season. Not only will he have James Harden handling the ball and launching shots, but also Russell Westbrook. That should give him chances at stray rebounds, or even easier inside buckets should one of the two guards heat up with their shooting.
That said, Capela’s 85 is one point ahead of what Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has. That doesn’t seem too unreasonable, as Murray was second leading scorer for the Nuggets with over 18 points per game. Capela’s double-doubles and solid inside play is worthy of the number, but there are those in the community already pointing out he how the Warriors’ Kevin Looney outplayed him in the poseason.
Capela’s OVR also matches the rating we just saw Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics get. These two may be measured against one another over the course of this season to see who excels. Both players are capable of pushing their NBA 2K20 player ratings even higher, with potential for one or both to get onto an NBA All-Star roster.
The new NBA 2K20 game arrives on September 6 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Get more of the latest NBA 2K20 news here.
