NBA 2K20 Player Ratings Update: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Surges, Paul George Slides

On Tuesday, January 14, an NBA 2K20 player ratings update arrived to address who’s been hot and who’s not. Several star players reached the 90 overall spot while a few others are drawing closer. Meanwhile, the ratings were unkind to players who haven’t performed up to par, including Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lonzo Ball rise in new NBA 2K20 player ratings update

It’s just his second season in the league, but the change of scenery has helped Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continue his maturation. With the OKC Thunder, the sophomore sensation is averaging 19.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game with a 46.8 percent field goal rate. He also landed a limited Moments of the Week 11 item (below) for his great contributions.

Along with Chris Paul, he’s got OKC amongst potential playoff teams in the early part of the season. Due to that, Shai gets a two-point boost, becoming an 87 overall in the NBA 2K20 world. His teammate, Steven Adams saw a two-point boost to get to 85 OVR. CP3 also saw a one-point increase to go up to 87 overall.

Another sophomore sensation is playing for the Atlanta Hawks. Trae Young continues to impress in just his second season. He hasn’t reached the near-elite level that Luka Doncic has achieved, but Young is now a 90 OVR. So is All-Star Nikola Jokic as he has woke up from an earlier season slump in terms of production.

Fans in New Orleans aren’t sleeping on Lonzo Ball. He’s been a big boost for the Big Easy, as the trade that sent Anthony Davis to the Lakers brought Lonzo, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart to the Pelicans. Ball is averaging 12.2 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.6 rebounds a game. Based on the way the Pelicans are looking, this team will start to become a force in the league once top draft pick Zion Williamson is able to play.

Paul George, Al Horford fall in ratings

While there are players moving up in the NBA 2K20 player ratings, others are falling. That includes All-Star Paul George in Los Angeles. PG13 suffered a two-point drop in the latest ratings.

His last 10 games have seen a decline in terms of scoring as his average is about five points lower than his regular-season average. Recently, he’s dealing with a hamstring injury so hopefully when he returns to good health, his production returns. Nonetheless, it’s brought more attention to the guys that were traded from the Clippers to OKC for George.

An even worse drop came for the Philadelphia 76ers’ Al Horford as he fell three points to become an 84 OVR. Horford’s numbers had dipped a bit, but now that Joel Embiid is out until later this month, it could mean more production for the Sixers forward.

Other players who dropped lower in the update include Blake Griffin (down 2 to 82 OVR), Draymond Green (down 2 to 80 OVR), Marcus Smart (down 2 to 80 OVR), James Ennis (down 2 to 76 OVR), and Wilson Chandler (down 2 to 73 OVR).
