NBA 2K20 Rookies Teased With Arrival of 2K19 MyTeam Draft Packs Featuring Former Picks

The 2019 NBA Draft descends upon Brooklyn, New York on Thursday night. Ahead of the big event, NBA 2K19 MyTeam teased fans a bit for the NBA 2K20 rookies that will be in the game. Additionally, the MyTeam crew dropped a brand new promotion with player cards for some of history’s top draft stars who become NBA greats. Here’s a look at the top players coming to 2K20 and the latest 2K19 cards as we head into the NBA Draft.

NBA 2K20 Rookies to include Zion Williamson, Ja Morant

When it comes to Thursday night’s draft, unless you’re a basketball fan living under a rock, you know that No. 1 pick will be Zion Williamson. There could always be some sort of surprise, but the New Orleans Pelicans would be foolish to do that unless some sort of behind-the-scenes trade happens.

After Zion is the top choice, Murray State’s Ja Morant is supposedly the second pick. He’ll take his talents to the Memphis Grizzlies, who recently traded their point guard Mike Conley to the Utah Jazz. Other top rookies in this draft class include Duke’s RJ Barrett, Virginia’s DeAndre Hunter, North Carolina’s Coby White, and Vanderbilt’s Darius Garland.

They’re not in the game yet officially, but the 2K19 rookies are. So are some of the all-time great stars who are former draft picks. NBA 2K19 MyTeam unveiled those cards today.

Interestingly, the NBA 2K19 Team crew is keeping fans happy with some Galaxy Opal player cards based on the recent blockbuster trade. The newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers Anthony Davis and brand new New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball each have GOs.

So do all-time NBA greats Hakeem Olajuwon and Oscar Robertson. These are typically the best cards available for these players unless a new promotion arrives to celebrate them with a few slightly-increased attributes on the card.

There are plenty of other player cards in the mix too. They include Pink Diamonds for Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Former Syracuse standout and NBA All-Star Derrick Coleman and current Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns each have a PD as well.

How to get the NBA 2K19 Draft player cards

Gamers can obtain these top-rated cards through NBA Draft Packs in the MyTeam Market. These start at a hefty 11,250 Virtual Currency or 10,500 MT for a pack of five cards. That single pack only brings a chance of pulling one of the NBA Draft players.

Prices move up to 15,000 VC (17,250 MT) for a pack of five cards including the guarantee of a Draft player. There’s also a 10-pack deal for 135,000 VC where each pack contains a guaranteed Draft Player card.

The other option is to check out the Auction House. So far, we’re seeing some high “Current Bid” prices for Lonzo Ball, Hakeem, and AD over there, as shown in the image below. However, these could signal a starting bid set by the seller.

As far as the latest NBA 2K20 rookies Draft class, you can also download user-created draft classes as there are plenty to choose from. Simply go to the NBA 2K19 settings and choose “Create a Draft Class.” From there, select “User-Created Draft Class” and find the one to download that looks best.

Typically, the results you see with a lot of downloads and updates may be the best to consider. As of this report, those were the draft classes created by jackmove916 on PS4’s version of NBA 2K19.

We’re keeping an eye out for the official NBA 2K20 game reveal, release date, and rookie ratings. It’s going to be particularly interesting to see which player gets on the cover, but also how the new rookies are rated heading into the game. Zion should be No. 1 overall and in rookie ratings, but then who’s next?
