The new NBA 2K20 Spotlight Series has already debuted in the game with Dwyane Wade and Kevin Garnett. Now, Clyde “The Glide” Drexler is the next player in the spotlight, with other players that were important during his career also there. In addition, there are new challenges to play too. Here’s the breakdown of who’s featured and what the challenges include.
New NBA 2K20 Spotlight Series: Clyde Drexler
Last week we saw the new MyTeam Prime Series featuring John Stockton, a former Dream Team member in 1992 with Drexler. Now Clyde gets his own Spotlight Series. He enjoyed an All-Star career that spanned from 1983 through 1998. His biggest stint as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers and a title with the Houston Rockets.
Drexler entered the league about the same time as another well-known scorer and dunker/highlight maker came along — Michael Jordan. They’d famously battle in an NBA Finals matchup one season too.
For his career, Drexler averaged 20.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and two steals a game, paving the way for the future shooting guard/small forwards. He now leads the way in the debut of the NBA 2K20 Spotlight Series for MyTeam mode. Here’s the official trailer from 2K on Friday:
Here are the other players featured in the NBA 2K20 Spotlight Series:
- Steve Francis 95
- Brandon Roy 94
- Hakeem Olajuwon 92
- Scottie Pippen 91
- Kenny Smith 88
- Clyde Drexler 84
- Jerome Kersey 81
As seen in the list above, the top two players are guards Brandon Roy and Steve Francis. They never teamed up with Drexler, but each was a star in their own right for one of his teams, either the Trailer Blazers or Rockets. Roy is the top diamond card available in Spotlight Packs, while Francis is part of Drexler’s Spotlight Challenge (see below).
Other players up above including Kersey, Olajuwon, and Pippen were teammates with Drexler. In fact, once Clyde joined Hakeem the “Dream” in Houston, Drexler finally won that elusive NBA title (1994-95 season). He’s now in the NBA Hall of Fame and rightfully so.
New Drexler Challenge & where to get Spotlight players
Along with fellow stars Dwyane Wade and Kevin Garnett, there is also a Clyde Drexler Spotlight Challenge now in the MyTeam Solo Challenges area. Gamers have to go through each part of the challenge one-by-one in order, as they’ll unlock. Each different part of the challenge involves things from Clyde’s Hall of Fame career.
Along the way, rewards are earned. For example, the first challenge gives a Sapphire Drexler card. There are MT, Tokens, and other player cards as rewards along the way. The reward for completing all 17 parts of the Drexler challenge is a Steve Francis card rated at 95 overall, but it will take some time and grind to get there.
There are Spotlight Series I Clyde Drexler Packs now selling in the MyTeam Market. A single pack goes for 3,000 VC or 3,750 MT. It includes one player and four random items. There’s only a chance of pulling a Spotlight Series player.
To get a guaranteed Spotlight player, it will cost 9,375 VC or 12,000 MT for a Deluxe Pack. There are also 10-pack options (84,375 VC) and 20-pack bundles (168,750 VC) with guaranteed Spotlight players. Right now, the top cards that are featured in the packs include the Diamond Brandon Roy (94), Amethyst Scottie Pippen (92) and Amethyst Hakeem Olajuwon (92).
