NBA 2K21 MyTeam Unlimited tournament eligibility, dates to qualify revealed

Based on details revealed on Thursday (Sept. 24), the NBA 2K21 MyTeam Unlimited tournament requires gamers to reach the Emerald Unlimited tier to qualify for each gameday. There will be four different gamedays with the first on October 10, 2020. The second gameday will take place on November 21, 2020. Two more gamedays take place in 2021 on January 2 and February 6.

Ultimately, there will be 16 contestants who advance for PlayStation and 16 contestants who advance for the Xbox. There will be two finalists, one from each console, who compete for the championship. The winner takes home a whopping $200,000 in prize money. The runner-up doesn’t leave empty-handed as they’ll get $50,000 for their effort.

In terms of fine print, we noticed the tournament is open to anyone 18 or older with PlayStation Plus or Xbox Gold Service. It’s also open to pretty much all residents of the 50 United States and D.C., with Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, and North Dakota excluded. Canadian residents can enter excluding those in Quebec.

The NBA 2K MyTeam mode involves gamers putting together player cards to form talented rosters consisting of stars from the past, present, and future. Cards arrive with different levels, skill badges, and ratings, as well as other quirks. In the past, there’s been “Glitched” cards allowing for players like Shaq to play point guard or Spudd Webb to play at center.

For last year’s MyTeam Unlimited tournament results, it was Jomar-12pr claiming the championship. He defeated The Klass Guy and was presented with a $250,000 check by Utah Jazz All-Star Donovan Mitchell for the big win. Who will claim the prize money in 2021?
