With NBA 2K22’s release date just around the corner, an early look at player ratings has arrived. Gamers are now getting to see which of the league’s basketball stars are considered best of the best for the upcoming game. It’s no surprise that the top name on the list is once again LeBron James with a 96 overall. However, it may be surprising that he’s tied with three other stars in the NBA 2K22 player ratings.
LeBron, KD, Giannis, & Steph are best in NBA 2K22 player ratings
The NBA Finals just concluded last month with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks taking down the Phoenix Suns, 4-2. That gave the two-time NBA MVP his first-ever championship, putting his name in the conversation as best in the league.
Based on that NBA Finals win and his impressive skills, Giannis is a 96 overall in NBA 2K22 player ratings. He joins three other stars who have multiple titles and a 96 rating in the upcoming game.
LeBron James is a four-time champion and looking to add another ring to his collection in the upcoming season. He’s listed atop 2K’s ratings reveal list that arrived on Wednesday, August 18.
Just below him is two-time NBA champ Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets. They’re once again considered a threat to win it all, thanks to their star trio of KD, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden.
Lastly, the 2021-22 season could be redemption time for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Steph is just behind LeBron with three championships. With Klay Thompson expected back in the lineup, could he add a fourth? Either way, he’s also one of the best in the game at 96 OVR.
Rounding out the top five is Kawhi Leonard, who is a star on both sides of the ball, and in search of his third championship, this time with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Of note, only one team has two players in the NBA 2K22 top 10 player ratings, as James Harden comes in at ninth overall with a 94 overall. That’s actually tied with the Dallas Mavs’ Luka Doncic and Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard.
By the way, most players expect they should be rated at the absolute top number, as KD shared his thoughts on what his rating should be.
WNBA top 10 players also revealed
In addition to showing off the top NBA stars in NBA 2K22 player ratings, 2K also revealed the top five for the WNBA. Leading the way there is the Seattle Storm’s Breanna Stewart. The former No. 1 pick in 2016 is a three-time All-Star, and 2018 MVP, with two WNBA championships.
Stewart tops all WNBA stars in the game at 95 overall, with A’Ja Wilson and Jonquel Jones at 94 OVR. Rounding out the top five are Gamestop exclusive cover star Candace Parker (93 OVR), and Brittney Griner (92 OVR).
These will be the NBA 2K22 player ratings once the game arrives, but as fans know, they’re likely to fluctuate. Good and bad performances during the seasons will have players’ ratings adjusted up or down.
It’s usually a safe bet that the best in the league will remain near the top, which is why they’ve been there for years. However, could the King’s reign be coming to an end with three other players right there at the top of the ratings? Time will tell!
NBA 2K22 officially arrives on September 10, 2021, for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PCs. See pre-order details here.
