With the upcoming NBA 2K22 video game, gamers who enjoy playing the MyCareer or The W modes will get a new addition. Seasons, which were exclusive to NBA 2K22 MyTeam in previous editions, will arrive for The W and MyCareer as well. These will allow gamers to earn exclusive rewards at no extra cost as each season takes place.
What are NBA 2K22 Seasons?
In NBA 2K21, there were Seasons launched every month or so exclusively for MyTeam mode. The seasons had specific themes where gamers needed to complete certain agendas each season.
Those agendas included achieving stats with players and teams or winning games. By doing so, gamers earned XP to move to new levels and unlock rewards such as packs, MT, Tokens, and player cards.
The highest level was 40 in a Season, which unlocked a special player card. For MyTeam Season 9, gamers could earn Julius “Dr. J” Erving.
There were no seasons in other modes in the game, but that will change with NBA 2K22 Seasons. Based on a Courtside Report, The W and MyCareer modes will now have Seasons as well. For MyCareer, that means specific content for The City or Neighborhood, depending on the gaming platform.
Based on the graphic above, gamers can earn XP for Seasons by participating in quests, City or Neighborhood games, Rec, Pro-Am, and events. That XP helps gamers progress their MyCareer avatar to higher levels in the season.
First season is Call to Ball on Sept. 10
When NBA 2K22 drops on September 10, the first season will also launch. It will be called Call to Ball and brings new content and rewards to unlock. These parts of the game are billed as “no-cost” which could mean gamers will have to grind it out to achieve levels for rewards.
On Tuesday, August 24, 2K tweeted to show off the NBA 2K22 Seasons roadmap (below). Based on the launch of Season 1, it will last a bit over three weeks, with Season 2 set to begin on October 2. However, the roadmap mentions a new season will launch every six weeks after that.
MyCareer Seasons to allow players to reach ‘Legend’ status
MyCareer will involve The City on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and Neighborhood on the PS4 and Xbox One. In the first season of NBA 2K22 Seasons for MyTeam, gamers will get to unlock and use Go Karts in the mode after reaching Level 40. At Level 30, there are in-line skates available.
Based on 2K’s report, gamers can earn “Legend” status through the Seasons. To do so will require reaching Level 40 in four different Seasons of the NBA 2K22 calendar.
They also teased the first stop for the NBA 2K22 Neighborhood which is a cruise theme. Players will travel by sea to various locations with scenic courts and different agendas. For Season 1 Call to Ball, the cruise ship is heading towards the Caribbean.
More NBA 2K details to arrive for MyTeam, Gameplay, and MyCareer
The NBA 2K22 Seasons reveal arrives before gamers have seen an official gameplay trailer. Based on dates revealed on August 23, that trailer arrives in the week of August 30, along with MyTeam details.
As far as The City and MyCareer, gamers will have to wait until the week of September 6, which is just four days before the NBA 2K22 release date.
