For months, we have waited and wondered who the NBA 2K23 cover athlete will be. Now, we have the answer. Below, we reveal the athlete who will grace the covers of the Standard Edition and the cross-gen Digital Deluxe editions of NBA 2K23.
The NBA 2K23 Cover Athlete is Shooting Guard Devin Booker
2K has selected Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker as the NBA 2K23 cover athlete. The 2022 NBA All-NBA 1st Team member comes as something of a surprise. Many were expecting Ja Morant, Nikola Jokic or Stephen Curry.
But now that we know the honor goes to Booker, he seems the obvious choice. He had an incredible season, averaging 26.8 points, 4.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds across 68 games. Twice during the season in Weeks 6 and 13, he was named Player of the Week in the Western Conference. The first time, his efforts played a major role in helping the Suns win 18 games in a row, which is the longest-ever winning streak in the team’s history. On February 10th, he also was named an All-Star for the third consecutive year.
While his average points this season were 26.8, he managed to score an astonishing 49 points in the March 24th game against the Denver Nuggets, locking in a win at 140-130. His is now the fourth-youngest NBA player ever to have scored 11,000 points over his career. So, to say he has earned a spot on the NBA 2K23 cover is an understatement.
Booker said, “It’s a dream come true to see myself on the cover of NBA 2K. I’ve been a huge NBA 2K fan since I was a kid, and it’s surreal to finally join the exclusive club of basketball greats who’ve been cover athletes.”

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Standard Edition will retail at $69.99. Yesterday, 2K announced the cover athletes for the NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition will be Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi, both five-time Olympic gold medalists.
The day before, 2K also revealed that none other than the legendary six-time NBA World Champion Michael Jordan will grace the covers of the NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition and the “ultra-premium” NBA 2K23 Championship Edition. The Michael Jordan edition is $99.99, and the Championship Edition is $149.99.
Speaking about the selections, Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy at NBA 2K, said, “MJ’s accomplishments, along with Devin Booker’s young, yet already outstanding career, will continue to inspire basketball fans around the world for years to come. It also goes without saying that this year’s WNBA cover celebrates two of the most outstanding players in the league, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, who continue to make their mark on basketball history.”
