NBA Playoffs 2019 Simulation From 2K19 Shakes Up Seeding, Crowns Champions

With sports video games, it’s possible to play out a thrilling season where pretty much any and all teams have a shot at winning the title. However, with recent advancements in video games, the realism has been bumped up a notch. In games like NBA 2K19 or NBA Live, players receive ratings based on their real-world performance, and teams are rated accordingly. A recent NBA Playoffs 2019 simulation evaluates the 16 teams that made it to the postseason in the NBA and who might win it all.

NBA 2K19 Reseeds the Playoffs Matchups

In a new NBA 2K19 video posted to their Twitter, they took a look at how the playoff results might play out if there were no conferences. For their NBA Playoffs 2019 simulation, 2K19 made the matchups based on how the teams would be seeded No. 1 through No. 16 based on their records. That created some intriguing matchups. It also meant the reigning NBA Champions would begin the playoffs as the No. 3 seed overall.

The No. 1 Milwaukee Bucks still drew the No. 16 Detroit Pistons for their opening-round matchup. However, that was the only matchup that stayed intact. Only three other matchups kept teams from original conferences as opponents. They were the No. 5 seed Houston Rockets vs. No. 12 San Antonio Spurs, No. 4 Nuggets vs. No. 13 Clippers, and No. 2 Raptors vs. No. 15 Nets.

Interestingly enough, there were a few surprising upsets in the NBA 2K19 simulation opening round. The Los Angeles Clippers were able to upset the No. 4 seed Nuggets by a 4-3 result. Also, the No. 15 Brooklyn Nets eliminated Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors, 4-2. Otherwise, the rest of the higher-seeded teams in matchups prevailed to move on.

That left the Bucks vs. Celtics, Rockets vs. Clippers, Nets vs. 76ers, and Blazers vs. Warriors. Ironically, one of those matchups happened in this year’s postseason first round and another is about to start in the second round.

Who are the NBA 2K19 Playoff simulation champions?

The final four of NBA 2K19’s Playoff simulation came down to four teams that could potentially be competing in this year’s Eastern and Western Conference Finals. However, NBA 2K19’s sim has them without conferences. On one side, the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Golden State Warriors. In the other matchup, James Harden and the Rockets battled Greek Freak and the Bucks.

The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors ended up in the NBA Finals, per the NBA 2K19 Playoffs simulation. When all was said and done, the defending champions are shown hoisting the trophy once again. The only unrealistic aspect might be that DeMarcus Cousins is shown in the video celebrating in uniform as they raise that trophy up.

Golden State Warriors win NBA Championship trophy in NBA 2K19 playoffs simulation

Many NBA fans and sports analysts have been suggesting that the league needs to ditch conference matchups for the playoffs. It would create the potential for a more accurate and compelling NBA finals matchup. With LeBron James now in the Western Conference that may be truer than ever. The NBA 2K19 simulation may not be the strongest evidence for doing so, but it certainly shows how interesting things could be!

Right now, gamers are able to simulate their own season or postseason in NBA 2K19. In addition, gamers can play Playoffs games such as Friday night’s Game 6 matchup involving the Clippers vs. Warriors. Will Golden State prevail once again as NBA Champions in 2019?
