Following the highly successful launch of Netflix’s The Witcher, which is still the most in-demand series in the world seven weeks after release, work has already become on Season 2. While production is presumably still in a very early stage, Netflix has now announced seven new casting decisions for The Witcher Season 2. Perhaps most notably, it includes the casting for Geralt’s fellow Witchers, Eskel and Lambert.
Eskel, Lambert, and Others Announced for The Witcher Season 2
The new casting announcements actually include a total of three witchers, the first of which is that of Yasen Atour for the role of Coen. Presumably, this Coen is the witcher who trained Geralt to wield a sword. (Suggesting that The Witcher Season 2 could include flashbacks to Geralt’s youth.) Season 2 will also see the introduction of Eskel and Lambert, played by Paul Bullion and Thue Ersted Rasmussen, respectively. Geralt’s fellow witchers from the School of the Wolf, this pair grew up with him at Kaer Morhen before becoming fully-fledged witchers themselves.
Two of the new casting decisions also indicate one of the stories which Season 2 will include; that of Nivellen, whose story is heavily based on that of Beauty and the Beast. Netflix has announced that Nivellen himself will be played by Kristofer Hivju. Meanwhile, his Bruxa lover Vereena will be played by Agnes Bjorn.
Finally, Netflix has announced the casting of two sorceresses. The first is the casting of Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia. Presumably, this “Lydia” is Lydia van Bredevoort, Vilgefortz’ personal secretary. Given that Vilgefortz’ importance is likely to grow in Season 2, her inclusion would make sense. The final new announcement is that Mecia Simson as Francesca, presumably the elf sorceress Francesca Findabair. A founder of the Lodge of Sorceresses, she also became the queen of Dol Blathanna. Interestingly, despite her relative importance in the world of The Witcher, she was the only member of the Lodge never to appear in CD Projekt Red’s game series.
