Alongside its third DLC pack, Call of Duty: WWII will be getting some new Basic Training abilities this week.
United Front comes out on Tuesday, June 26 for PlayStation 4 players, who will also have access to the new Specialist, Wanderlust and Escalation abilities. Each of these additions will bring something unique to the game, according to a YouTube video by TheseKnivesOnly.
TheseKnivesOnly was actually flown out to Sledgehammer’s studios by the Call of Duty devs (pretty cool, right?) and had the chance to show off not just these new Basic Trainings, but two new maps as well.
The first one up was Specialist, which allows players to earn Basic Trainings instead of Scorestreaks in the game. Only one Basic Training will be unlocked every 200 points, but when a player reaches 800 points, they’ll unlock every Basic Training. This is reminiscent of the Specialist Strike Package from Modern Warfare 3, which awarded perks instead of killstreaks.
Wanderlust was up next. This one grants the ability to spawn with a random gun that has up to six attachments. With Wanderlust equipped, the player will get a new gun to use every time they swap weapons. TheseKnivesOnly did note that he got some DLC weapons when using Wanderlust, but that this may change when it goes live on Tuesday.
Last, but not least was Escalation, which allows players to aim down sights “significantly faster” after killing an opponent. It also provides an instant ammo refill after multi-kills. According to TheseKnivesOnly, this ability would best be utilized by fast-paced players are constantly seeking out kills rather than anyone who stays in the same area.
WWII players can look forward to a ton of new content that United Front promises to bring to the game on Tuesday, including these new abilities, three new multiplayer maps, a War mission, a Nazi Zombies experience, and even a fan-favorite “weapon” from previous games in the Call of Duty franchise.
That’s right: the Riot Shield is back. The Shield will come to WWII as a part of the new Division called Cavalry. It was shown off in a new video from TheseKnivesOnly on Sunday.
The Riot Shield goes way back to Modern Warfare 2, and based on this footage, it seems like it will act about the same as it did then – giving players the raw power to bash their foe’s skulls in with a melee attack. According to Charlie Intel, the new Cavalry Division will have some special abilities of its own that will allow players to:
- Carry a Shield
- Perform a Shield Charge to ram enemies while sprinting
- Gain improved objective capabilities
Additionally, objectives will give extra score to players using Cavalry, and two assists will equal a kill.
The Cavalry Division is also coming to WWII this Tuesday alongside all the other exciting content United Front is bringing to the table. The October release for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is also quickly approaching.
