Fans of the classic Gun Game mode in Call of Duty have something new to look forward to this week. On Thursday, the 15th of April, Treyarch will be launching Blueprint Gun Game; an all-new spin-off of the fan-favourite mode with some significant alterations to the standard format.
Black Ops Cold War: Blueprint Gun Game
By this point, most Call of Duty players have likely played at least one incarnation of Gun Game. The mode has featured in almost every Call of Duty title since the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, appearing in no less than ten separate titles. Since its arrival in Black Ops Cold War, the mode’s enduring popularity has been made clear once again, and now, Treyarch is giving Gun Game fans a new way to play.
As the name implies, Blueprint Gun Game shakes up the standard formula by adding in Weapon Blueprints. Rather than progressing through the typical rota of weapons, players will instead progress through a new rota composed purely of different Weapon Blueprints. Moreover, this progression won’t be the same in every match. The twenty weapons are chosen from a roster which includes Blueprints that have been available since launch all the way to the latest new Season 2 Weapon Blueprints. Different Blueprints are also available per tier.
With Season 3 just around the corner, Blueprint Gun Game could be the final new mode to launch in Season 2. Fortunately, players wanting to give it a try have an added incentive; one day later, Treyarch will be holding a double XP weekend, offering Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass XP. This event will be live in-game from 10:00 AM PT on the 16th to 10:00 AM PT on the 19th, three days later. It’s currently unknown whether Blueprint Gun Game is a permanent inclusion, or whether it will be rotated out.
