Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now live, and with it, Infinity Ward have delivered a host of new content for both Modern Warfare and Warzone. While the former has gotten new maps, new guns, and new Operators, the latter has also gotten some big changes to Verdansk.
What’s New in Modern Warfare Season 5?
Like previous seasons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Season 5’s new content is delivered in two phases. The first and largest part comes at launch, and in this case, is now playable in-game. The second part is staggered throughout the duration of the season. In the case of Season 5, the launch week offerings are particularly sizeable. First up, Modern Warfare players can now play on four new maps. Livestock is a new Gunfight map, while Petrov Oil Rig and Suldal Harbour are standard 6v6 maps. Verdansk International Airport is for Ground War.
Of course, Warzone also got some significant new additions to its Verdansk map. These include the new stadium interior, as well as the interior of the train station, and finally the new Freight Train. Players can also now find Exterior Ascenders which allow them to scale the sides of buildings quickly. A new game mode, Mini Royale, is now playable, while Juggernaut Drops can now occur in-game.
As for seasonal content which is usable in both games, Season 5 introduces the first new Shadow Company Operator, Lerch. More Operators from that new faction will be coming later in the season. The new weapons in Season 5, available in the free tiers of the Battle Pass, are the AN-94 and ISO. Of course, more weapons will be coming mid-season, including the Dual Kodachis. Thus far, Activision has teased the upcoming addition of three new game modes; Bare Bones, Ground War Reinforce, and King Slayer, as well as a “Mid Season Event”.
