New Destiny 2 Forsaken Video Teases The Tangled Shore Outdoor Region

We already know thanks to the initial Destiny 2 Forsaken reveal vidoc that the expansion will allow players to explore two brand new outdoor areas: The Tangled Shore and The Dreaming City, both of which are located in the planetary region known as The Reef. Now, thanks to a new video teaser from Bungie, we know a little more about The Tangled Shore and how it will fit into Forsaken’s larger narrative.

The teaser comes courtesy of a recent tweet from the official Destiny 2 Twitter account:

While brief, the teaser does offer up some new details about both the Forsaken expansion and The Tangled Shore area. For one thing, it looks like we’ll be working closely with Ikora while exploring The Tangled Shore since she appears to be the one with the most first-hand knowledge of what’s been happening since players last visited The Reef in the original Destiny. The expansion’s main antagonists, the traitorous Awoken prince Uldren and his cadre of Scourge Barons, are using The Tangled Shore as a staging area of sorts, and it’s up to the players to stop whatever plans Uldren has cooked up.

Get ready to venture into The Tangled Shore.

Other brief glimpses in the teaser confirm the presence of the Cabal in The Tangled Shore, and that players will get to ride their Sparrows to help expedite the process of traversing the region. The use of Sparrows suggests that The Tangled Shore will be a rather large area to explore, on par with the Warmind expansion’s Hellas Basin region on Mars (or perhaps even bigger). Destiny 2’s first expansion, Curse of Osiris, allowed players to explore a small slice of the planet Mercury, but that slice was so small that Sparrows could not be used, a minor detail that players ultimately weren’t happy about.

Fans have noted that the narration Ikora provides for the video teaser sounds a little muted, as if she’s sad or has other things on her mind. Of course, given the major story revelation that kicks off the Forsaken narrative, Ikora’s sorrow isn’t too surprising.

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion will launch for all platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC) on Sept. 4.
