Next week’s launch of Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion will officially usher in the game’s second year of content, and in a newly released ViDoc Bungie touched on the various ways it will be supporting the game throughout Year 2, ways which will extend far beyond Forsaken.
Both the ViDoc and its accompanying roadmap infographic (which you can find here) reveal that Bungie plans to keep adding onto the Forsaken expansion during the months following its launch. Here’s what Destiny 2 players can look forward to between Forsaken’s September 4 launch and December, 2018:
- September 14: Forsaken’s new raid, The Last Wish, will launch
- September 18: The first season 4 iteration of Iron Banner arrives alongside a brand new Crucible map called The Convergence
- September 25: Breakdown, a new Crucible game mode, will arrive alongside a series of additional maps
- October, 2018: The Halloween-themed Festival of the Lost will make its Destiny 2 debut with a mysterious new twist
- New weekly playlists, updates to the Dreaming City, and other surprise announcement will be made
Starting in December, 2018, Bungie will also start rolling out the three smaller content expansions included in Destiny 2’s Annual Pass. Each Annual Pass expansion release will denote the start of a new content season, and thus they’ll also each include features that will be free for all players. Other things to note include the fact that the Heavy Machine Gun weapon type will be returning in December, as will the Dawning Christmas-themed event. The Annual Pass seasonal updates will extend all the way into summer, 2019, and Bungie has said that its ultimate goal is to ensure that Destiny 2 players never run out of new things to do, so expect additional content announcements in the near future.
