New Details Announced for Nintendo Switch Online Service Including Online NES Games Lineup

New details have surfaced for the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online Service including information regarding the NES games lineup that players will have access to. Sadly, we still have no specific release date for the service at all, which is surprising given that it is still set to arrive next month. However, we do know more about what will be available at launch now.

We already knew the Nintendo Switch Online Service would offer various features that competitors have like cloud saving and paid online play for multiplayer games, but now we know just a bit more. There are special offers and deals that only members of the online program will be eligible for, in addition to the NES games that are included.

Nintendo Switch Online Service NES Games

Nintendo previously announced that the Nintendo Switch Online Service would launch with 20 NES games with more to come in the future. These games will have online play for the first time ever, allowing for a new way to play them. Of the 20, we now know half of the games available when the service launches in September.

You can find the 10 NES games that we now know that will be part of the Nintendo Switch Online Service below, a few of which we already knew about:

  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Donkey Kong
  • Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Balloon Fight
  • Ice Climber
  • Dr. Mario
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Super Mario Bros. 3

There are still 10 more launch NES games that we don’t know yet. That also doesn’t include future titles. Nintendo has yet to give confirmation on whether or not SNES, GameBoy, N64, and other Nintendo platforms will be joining later on. The Nintendo Switch Online Service launches sometime next month.

Perhaps a Nintendo Direct will announce it soon. The pricing for the service in the United States is $3.99 a month, $7.99 for three months, or $19.99 for a year. Family plans are $34.99 for a whole year.
