Earlier today, CD Projekt Red released a new expansion trailer for the upcoming Gwent: Crimson Curse expansion. Crimson Curse was only recently announced, and will be the first official expansion for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. Details are still scarce for what’s to be included in Crimson Curse, but it looks as though it will bring a significant amount of new content.
The Upcoming Gwent: Crimson Curse Expansion
The latest Gwent: Crimson Curse trailer gives players a bit more insight into the story of the expansion. The DLC features Dettlaff van der Eretein, the vampire villain from The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC, unleashing the namesake ‘Crimson Curse’. “As the Moon turns red,” says CD Projekt Red; “new breeds of monsters awake. And after a long, deep slumber, they are all thirsty for a taste of fresh blood…”
The Gwent: Crimson Curse expansion is due to release later this month, on the 28th of March. It will bring more than 100 new cards to the Witcher card game, with 14 cards for each faction and 31 neutral cards. Quite a few of these have already been teased on the official Gwent website. Given the theme of the expansion, plenty of these are vampires or themed around vampires, including the new ‘Feast of Blood,’ ‘Undying Thirst,’ ‘Bruxa,’ ‘Nekurat,’ and ‘Fleder’ cards. Character-wise, the expansion brings new cards for characters like Vivienne de Tabris, Roderick of Dun Tynne, and Palmerin de Launfal, several of whom also appeared in Blood and Wine.
The expansion is currently available to pre-order. Players who pre-order Crimson Curse will get an exclusive Crimson Curse cardback, as well as a Blood Armour leader skin for the Unseen Elder. They will also save 20% on 40 Crimson Curse Kegs, which contain only new cards from the Crimson Curse expansion. The expansion will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
